Internet Isolation Facebooking My Space
by Jihmye Collins
A demise of privacy and stealthed isolation
the tenderness of touch passe
warmth replaced for expediency
the new temple of worship
google blogging textmessaging facebooking my space
tweeting and twitting a prayer
for faster shout-outs,
twitching mode in incubation
the intimacy of pleasurable touch forgotten
Michelangelo’s tantalizing tingle
of tipping fingers
teasing shots thu our innerselves
lost subtleties of nuance, discerned non-verbals
that only face-to-face
clasping hands and peering in eyes
can pleasingling create
through it all I wish
for every E Harmony love encounter,
something more than an electronic connection,
casual happiness from skin-to-skin embrace
in the meantime, I’ll snail mail
an invitation to meet with friends
on the park green
and read poetry together
