Sometimes I Dream A Dream

Poetry Composition Through Instruction

Sometimes I Dream A Dream

by Jihmye Collins

From the hot, cracked streets of
Many places, USA
Where Panthers once softly
and defiantly marched
With clenched fists
Thrust towards the heavens
Talking about Justice
And now,
sometimes I Dream a Dream
Of totally finding
My total self
Multiplied by the
peoples and kindreds of the Earth
Who will have in their search
Reached the zenith of enlightenment
Blending humanity
Into an infinite symphony score
Of colors, shapes and sizes
Smiles and handshakes
Embraces and kisses
Warm embraces
Settling into a calm and blissful state
Worthy of the poet’s song
At last synonymous
with our nobleness
A new World Order
of being
So even I faintly hear ― still
panther footprints in the night
Sometimes I dream a dream
